Boaz Yakin To Direct Family Pooch Film ‘Max’

Boaz Yakin To Direct Max

They say never work with children or animals, but REMEMBER THE TITANS and SAFE director Boaz Yakin is ignoring this advice with his next feature. Yakin has got MAX lined up at MGM; it’s a family feature about ‘Man’s Best Friend’.

The dog in question, Max, is topically traumatised by his active service in Afghanistan. When the Belgian Shepherd Malinois’ owner dies in action, the hound is sent to live with the grieving family. And just to tug on those heart strings a little more, MAX is based on a true story.

We can see where things are going from here – straight towards a nice warm pair of fuzzy slippers, a tube of Pringles and a lump of sodden tissues. But hey, who doesn’t love a film with a dog in it? From ’80s features K-9 and TURNER AND HOOCH to 2008’s MARLEY AND ME, we can’t resist a feature about our slobbering and stinky beasts.

Claire Joanne Huxham comes from the south-west, where the cider flows free and the air smells of manure. She teaches A-level English by day and fights crime by night. When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
