Judd Apatow To Helm Amy Shumer’s ‘Train Wreck’

After Universal Studios acquired the script from rising American comedienne Amy Schumer in August, Judd Apatow quickly signed on to produce the project titled TRAIN WRECK. Well, Apatow must have been impressed as he has also signed on the direct the crazy comedy. In addition, Shumer, a stand-up comic-turned-actress and writer, will make her leading big-screen debut in the film centred on a basket case trying to rebuild her life after hitting rock bottom. While that short synopsis may sound dramatic, fans of the Comedy Central star’s show, Inside Amy Shumer, are sure to be familiar with her near-the-knuckle, biting humour.

Apatow is currently looking at the supporting cast in Los Angeles and further meeting are planned in New York next week. It will be Apatow’s first film since his enjoyable KNOCKED-UP sequel/spinoff THIS IS 40. Expect a number of his regulars to feature somewhere.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
