New Spots For Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’ As It Narrowly Avoids NC-17 Rating

The team up of Oscar-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese and his handsome muse Leonardo DiCaprio has always impressed critics. From their first project GANGS OF NEW YORK to their latest, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET; award consideration is never too far away. Having heard the latter, running at almost to three hours long, has just scraped through a rating process with an R (apparently it was so close to receiving that dreaded NC-17 moniker), we’re desperate to see what craziness the couple have in store this time…

THE WOLF OF WALL STREET is adapted by the same-titled bio of Jordan Belfort by acclaimed Sopranos/Boardwalk Empire writer/creator Terence Winter. It sees DiCaprio as the rising young financial hot-shot whose hard partying lifestyle and excessive drug abuse saw him taking too many risks in his profession. Later becoming mixed-up in money laundering and security fraud that ultimately saw him convicted and sent to prison in 1998.

We have a couple of super new television spots from the film co-starring Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal and Rob Reiner. It’s set for US cinemas from the 25th December and the UK 17th January 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
