The US this week sees the release of tense action-thriller HOMEFRONT, which sees the ever-likeable Jason Statham back in action man mode after the more character-driven HUMMINGBIRD (or REDEMPTION). The film pits his retired government agent, Phil Broker, against a crazed drug-dealing backwoods clan, led by James Franco, after relocating with his daughter to a secluded small town following the death of his wife.
The film, which hits the UK next Friday, has a screenplay by Statham’s Oscar-winning EXPENDABLES co-star and acting icon Sylvester Stallone. It’s directed by Gary Fleder, best known for giving us the underrated THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU’RE DEAD and RUNAWAY JURY.
HOMEFRONT co-stars Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, Clancy Brown, Rachelle Lefevre and Frank Grillo.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
