DC Comics certainly seem to be working hard on the television side of things in terms of adapting their vast array of characters. They currently have the incredibly successful Arrow airing on the CW, which is also set to introduce Barry Allen the alter-ego of The Flash before the character receives his own spin-off series. We have also heard that there are television adaptations of Hourman, Constantine and even a Gotham series focusing on a young Jim Gordon on the way.
Now a new rumour claims that in an unexpected turn the CW are also developing a series based on DC Comics’ ‘Young Justice’, which originated as a comic before becoming a highly successful animated show. The animated series aired for two and a half years on Cartoon Network and garnered high critical acclaim. You can read below how the potential live action series is being described:
‘live action teen drama/romance series with a superhero twist, based on the Young Justice cartoon, games and comics, being prepped for 2015′.
The description sounds perfect for the teen orientated CW network that is also home to The Vampire Diaries and previously 90210. However, the show could be a brilliant companion series to the more adult orientated Arrrow and presumably The Flash, which could both potentially crossover some of their characters for a wonderful television universe that viewers could be truly immersed in. Young Justice sounds as if it may share many similarities with the CW’s previous Superman origin series Smallville which introduced many younger superheroes such as Kid-Flash, The Wonder Twins and Superboy. Both Superboy and Miss Martian are mentioned as leaders of the team which will hopefully also include Robin if Warner Bros will allow it.
