If you haven’t been able to tell from THN’s Godzilla Countdown, this latest GODZILLA has got us (or me at least) very excited indeed. Finally, after years and months of waiting we have the first official trailer, and boy was it worth the wait. Looking to erase all memory of Roland Emmerich’s misfire (well maybe not all memory as a stand alone monster film it wasn’t too bad), the Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. collaboration has enlisted Gareth Edwards, the man behind MONSTERS, to bring Toho’s most recognisable monster to the big screen. The film looks to hit the fun monster mashing of the Japanese Godzilla films, as well as hitting the powerful and emotional high of the very first film, which is approaching its 60th. The trailer makes a brave choice by focusing more on people than monsters, let’s hope the script does too. Let’s hope the final piece gives birth to a new franchise.
We’re also treated to a brand new teaser poster which showcases the epic scene in which a team of soldiers free falls into the middle of the chaos.
GODZILLA will be released 16th May 2014. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, Sally Hawkins, Akira Takarada, and David Strathairn.

God, I hope not. The reason I liked Pacific Rim is because it gave us quite a few mech vs. monster scenes. It was a nice blend of human/ character development moments with mech/ monster sequences.
Who gives a crap about father/ daughter relationship moments in a monster flick? When you went to go see “2012,” what exactly were you expecting to see? What did you (we) actually get?! I rest my case.
If the title is “Godzilla,” I better see some Godzilla moments. I’m hopeful for this, but I saw “Monsters.” It was ok, but not a lot of monsters in a movie titled, “Monsters.” Take out the idea of monsters and the entire premise of the characters could have easily been set in a safari or war-time movie. Meaning the establishment of “monsters” is moot.
