We’ve been hearing about LEGENDS OF OZ: DOROTHY’S RETURN for quite some time now. Previously titled DOROTHY OF OZ and set for a 2013 release, it looks as though the animated adventure decided to avoid competition with Sam Raimi’s live action OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL. This latest trailer seems to have removed some of the cheesier elements of the previous advertising campaign, as well as focusing more on the humour.
It seems like a perfectly accessible tale for a younger audience with decent animation and fine voice-work, but nothing really stands out. The film will see the land of Oz fall under the reign of latest villain The Jester, voiced by Martin Short.
LEGENDS OF OZ: DOROTHY’S RETURN is released on 9th May 2014 and stars the voices of Lea Michelle, Kelsey Grammar, Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Oliver Platt, Megan Hilty, Hugh Dancy, and Martin Short.
