Stylish New Look At The Main ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Cast

The rather intense and surprisingly mature first trailer for Bryan Singer’s forthcoming action sequel X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST put the return of the evolutionary heroes to the top of my ‘must see’ list of 2014. A time-hopping plot in which adamantium-clawed mutant Logan must travel back into the past to save his race, offering a unique perspective of the fan-favourite comic-book arc by Chris Claremont.

The film has made it on the front cover of French magazine Cine Live and suggests a new poster is on the way with a similar design. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine leading the way as Magneto’s and Professor X’s past and present hint at the struggles to come.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

Not technically the Claremont story arc. Kitty Pride, not Logan, was the time traveler in the original story. This takes Claremont’s arc and turns it into another Wolverine story. Also, Wolvie is 5’3″ and would never be confused with Hugh Jackman. While I have watched and enjoyed them all…mostly…I still don’t think a “really good” X-Men movie has been made yet. First Class was very close and best so-far but would’ve been better if the mutants were the original team (Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Ice Man, Angel, and Beast) and had been a “true reboot”. Could’ve been a nice trilogy with the first episode introducing the team, the second showing them grow, and the third showing the “new” X-Men (Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, etc.) taking over and kicking the door open to another trilogy. Jeez…do I have to do EVERYTHING?? 😉
