It’s official. Vin Diesel has posted the first image from recording sessions for Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. In the comedic space saga written and directed by James Gunn, the gravelly-voiced actor will lend his tones and motion-capture the role of Groot, one of the heroic intergalactic outlaws set to make his debut in the studio’s riskiest project. It features the best look yet of the walking, gun-toting tree in bust form.
Gunn even offered these words on the actor’s inclusion:
“Vin Diesel is a super awesome dude, I can’t tell you how much I like this guy. I hope this [photo] puts to rest all the silly Thanos-Vin stuff which people just seemed to make up out of nothing. He said he wanted to do it and we said we were talking to him. Everything else was people guessing and thinking they knew what was going to happen. This was the bust we used for reference when shooting. It has changed slightly from this since we started animating him.”
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is slated for cinemas from 1st August 2014 and stars Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Benicio del Toro, Karen Gillan, Ophelia Lovibond, Lee Pace, Djimon Honsou, Glenn Close, Peter Serafinowicz and John C. Reilly.
