Volatile First Trailer For SXSW Indie ‘Loves Her Gun’

Debuted at SXSW earlier this year, the first trailer for LOVES HER GUN has now been released online. The indie flick from Swerve Pictures and director Geoff Marslett follows a young woman played by Trieste Kelly Dunn who, after being attacked during a night out in New York City, decides to relocate to Austin, Texas for a quieter life. There she falls into the local gun culture and finds herself overcome by her previous worries once again.

Director Geoff Marslett, who co-wrote the script alongside Lauren Modery, also featured his directorial debut MARS at SXSW in 2010. Relative newcomer Dunn has held small roles in UNITED 93 and VACATION! as well as recurring roles in TV shows Golden Boy and Banshee which both aired in the US.

LOVES HER GUN won the Louis Black Lone Star Award at SXSW and is touted as a thoughtful look at gun culture and the effect fear has on our decision making. A look at the trailer below gives a glimpse into the intensity of the movie which was largely shot on location in Austin.

LOVES HER GUN also stars Josephine Decker, Ashley Spillers and Francisco Barreiro and is released in the US on January 10th with no UK distribution or release date for the film currently announced.
