Chiwetel Ejiofor Refuses To Deny ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Rumours

C

Back in November we brought you news of a rumour that was doing the rounds, which suggested 12 YEARS A SLAVE actor Chiwetel Ejiofor may be set for a role in J.J. Abrams’ STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. That rumour is now a little bit more concrete, as the actor has refused to deny his involvement with the epic space saga.

‘Who knows? We’ll just have to see,’ Ejiofor teased upon Yahoo! Movies asking him about his involvement. Where other actors have either flat-out denied their involvement, or have actually spoken too much about it (here’s looking at you, Saoirse Ronan), Ejiofor’s tight-lipped remarks are intriguing.

He went on to tell Yahoo!:

“I don’t know is really the only answer I can give you. I’m a huge fan of that world and J.J, but I don’t know. I can’t tell you.”

Sounds to us like he was indeed visiting Abrams’ office back in November to discuss a role in the film, and either he doesn’t know the outcome of that discussion yet or isn’t allowed to say. But with the likes of  Jesse Plemons, Hugo Weaving, Adam Driver and even 12 YEARS A SLAVE co-star Michael Fassbender recently rumoured to be attached, it looks like J.J. Abrams is making some great casting decisions so far.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is due for release on 18th December, 2015.
