Michael B. Jordan Confirmed For ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot

Michael-B-Jordan

While it’s not officially been confirmed by the studio 20th Century Fox, it appears Josh Trank’s long in-development reboot of Marvel’s super-powered family FANTASTIC FOUR will indeed have Michael B. Jordan involved. The rising FRUITVALE STATION star first came to attention in Trank’s impressive sci-fi thriller CHRONICLE and has been linked to the role of Human Torch (aka Johnny Storm), previously played by Chris Evans, since the director landed the gig.

Louisianaentertainment.gov has confirmed shooting the comic-book adventure will begin on the 10th February in Baton Rouge. The website provides job listings and contact information for movies filming in Louisiana and has the following message listed regarding the superhero film.

“Fox feature film Fantastic Four starring Michael B. Jordan will shoot February 10th in Baton Rouge. Please send resumes to [email protected].”

With production set to begin in less than four weeks I think it’s safe to say a confirmed full casting announcement is imminent. Another expected lead could reunite THAT AWKWARD MOMENT stars Jordan and Miles Teller, who is said to be up for the role of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

Basically what this article is saying is “it’s confirmed but…it’s not really confirmed.”

Congratulations Fox, I’m now not coming to see this horrid reboot.

It’s more like “it’s not confirmed… But it’s really confirmed”, sort of like when Paul Rudd was finally confirmed as Antman, as if we didn’t know. So the studio announcement won’t be news. I wanna know who plays the Thing and how he will look.

I mean, he’s a really good actor and he’d play it well. The only issue is that he’s black. (Assuming you’re not a racist), it’d only really be a big issue if Susan wasn’t also black.

For the first time, I’ve decided to boycott a superhero film at the theaters. I’m not paying to see this film period. The Silver Samurai was enough of a letdown. You cut Rogue from Days of Future Past? I’m skipping it. There is at least one reason I’m going to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It’s not produced by Fox for starters. Hmm, might as well skip every film Fox makes from now on. Congratulations Fox, I’ve been sick of you for years, and now i’ve had it. I hope all your movies flop and you give the rights to Marvel. Tell us about Sue Storms. Is she still Johnny’s sister or are you just gonna snuff that part of the story? Who did you cast for her? Tell ya what. Cast Brandy Norwood as Sue and I won’t boycott, otherwise you had better make a damn impressive film to earn back my appreciation. I can’t submit myself to the torture of watching your bad films and I definitely don’t appreciate character redesigns, least of all with people I barely recognize. Brandy is the only person I will accept as Sue now that you’ve gone and made this casting decision for the torch. Cast her or I’m done with your movies.

I just looked up the actor said to play Mr. Fantastic. Just when I thought my disappointment in this film couldn’t grow any more, I saw that guy. I’m not necessarily against him, I just don’t like the direction the movie is set to take with young actors. Kinda throwing my Brandy suggestion out the window at this point. She wouldn’t fit in. I’m taking back my stance of not wanting to see this movie or any of it’s sequels. I expected a certain standard from this franchise and it just hasn’t been met.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I tried to make a suggestion before I got a better idea of what they were trying to do.

I think Zoe Saldana would play a good sister for Michael B. Jordan but of course she’s super tied up and in-demand this days. Don’t really agree with your choice of Brandy.

I somewhat agreed about Zoe Saldana, except that that she’s almost a decade older than the Reed Richards they cast. She’s supposed to be younger than Reed, but older than Johnny. She’s actually slightly older than Brandy. It’s not a big deal, except when you add the factor of the people she’ll be working alongside. The actors for Star Trek were actually a close match for her in most instances.

I know that to some people that age doesn’t matter for actors and roles, but I feel like there has got to be someone that better fits the young team image they seem to be going for. I’m out of ideas though at this moment.

I feel like Brandy is more mature than Zoe in both looks and… vibe? Not sure if you get what I mean lol. Who did they cast as Reed? I don’t really care about this movie and won’t see it but I’m curious.

Miles Teller. You can do a google image search on him to see that he at least looks like a young Reed.

Wowwww, that guy? I guess they really are making the team younger. Any word on The Thing?

I think Channing Tatum would make a great T’Challa, The Black Panther! How about Brock Lesnar as Luke Cage. I mean hey, it’s not like established race of a character is important, right? Changing race really doesn’t change anthing fundamental about the character, am I right? It’s really sad that instead of putting forth the effort of creating interesting and strong black characters, that Hollywood just wants to shoehorn black actors into characters that are known to be white. It might work for more obscure characters like Nick Fury, but the public is familiar with the Fantastic Four and its just too much of a departure. See Will Smith in Wild Wild West. Should have been huge, but bombed terribly. Would Blade have been as good if they had cast Tom Cruise in the role instead of Wesley Snipes? Nope. It’s insulting.

Before I get the label of racist tossed at me, I want to say that I’m a big fan of the “Kane Chronicles” written by Rick Riordan, creator of the “Percy Jackson” young adult series. In the “Kane Chronicles” Riordan is doing what should be being done and creating some great, original black and mixed race characters. I’m really hoping that Hollywood does with this series what it has done with Percy Jackson. I think it’s great that Riordan has given young black and mixed race kids some heroes of their own that they can relate to and connect with. This is how you do it!

If producers change a white character into a black one, it’s progressive, If producers change a black character into a white one, it’s racist. There will never be equality.

I dont want them turning the whole story into something different. Sue and Johnny should be brother and sister. They messed up the last FF movies with that horrible casting of Jessica Alba and that fake rubber looking Thing suit. Plus Doom was pretty lame also.

Channing Tatum is a wooden actor.. he doesnt have much range, you can tell how lame he would be by watching the GI Joe movies.

Well apparently they’ve gone ahead with a white actress and an adopted brother storyline. I went and saw Days of Future Past and I enjoyed it. Actually the full lineup of actors is available now, but since it’s been five months since my first post, maybe a trailer is coming soon. Spider-Man 2 was pretty good as well. Winter Soldier was arguably better, but Jamie Foxx definitely owned the Electro role.

Yeah The Winter Soldier was easily the best Marvel movie this year.
