The Showtime network have released the latest still from upcoming Victorian horror series Penny Dreadful. It’s a mind baby from SKYFALL writer John Logan, with fabled director Sam Mendes working his magic as executive producer. Delving into the seedy macabre of 19th century gothic literature, the show incorporates the origin stories of Dorian Grey and Dr. Frankenstein, along with a number of characters from Dracula.
The new image shows Josh Hartnett as American gunslinger Ethan, Eva Green as the mysterious Vanessa Ives and ex-James Bond, Timothy Dalton, playing the shifty looking Sir Malcolm. There’s also a new teaser trailer which gives us a first glimpse at what the tone of the show likely to be. It’s certainly got the talent in the right places but will the series bring genuine horror or cheap scare tactics? Check out the still and teaser below to decide for yourself.
