The folks at Latino Review appear to have landed another scoop with news of superstar Johnny Depp’s meetings with Marvel for rumoured “Phase III” entry, DOCTOR STRANGE. They claim the 50 year-old THE LONE RANGER actor is desperately wanted by the studio to add some much-needed clout to a character that is perhaps not as familiar as their other superheroes.

“A well-connected source informed me tonight that Johnny Depp has taken a meeting with Marvel to discuss taking on the role of Dr. Strange.”

Depp is reportedly very keen to join the Marvel universe and is apparently a huge fan of the comic-book character Dr. Stephen Strange, also known as The Supreme Sorcerer. Then again, flash $30 million in anyone’s direction,  a share of the box-office profits and I’m sure any actor would say the same.

DOCTOR STRANGE doesn’t yet have a director attached. Proof once again Marvel have the main say on the casting of their projects and not the filmmaker brought in. However, it’s being claimed the fantasy adventure is being eyed for a 6th May, 2016 slot.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
