Saldana And Worthington Confirmed For ‘Avatar’ Sequels

Avatar

The highest grossing film of all time, AVATAR, will be returning to our screens with three sequels and it has been announced that the movie’s main stars Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington are set to reprise their roles of Jake Sully and the Na’vi huntress Neytiri.

Scheduled to begin production later this year, director James Cameron has announced that he has enlisted the help of Josh Friedman (WAR OF THE WORLDS), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES) and Shane Salerno (SAVAGES, SALINGER) to collaborate with him on the screenplays for the three films and help him bring the ever-expanding universe of AVATAR to life.

Commenting on Saldana’s and Worthington’s reprisals in the sequels, Cameron said:

“Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor. Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength. Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they’ll be returning with us to Pandora.”

The AVATAR sequels will be filmed back-to-back and the release of the first follow up is set for December 2016, with the second in December 2017 and the third a year later. The three sequels will be produced by Cameron and Jon Landau through Lightstorm Entertainment for Twentieth Century Fox.
