NBC’s ‘Murder, She Wrote’ Reboot Postponed

Murder She Wrote

Octavia Spencer won’t be solving any murderous crimes anytime soon as it has been announced that American network NBC has decided not to go ahead with the planned reboot of  crime drama Murder, She Wrote. It’s not clear why the network have postponed, but it’s rumoured they want to approach the series from a different angle to try and distance it from the series that was watch by 23 million viewers at the height of its’ popularity.

One person who is pleased with the news is star of the original series Angela Lansbury, who back in November called the reboot a mistake. On hearing the idea had been shelved the actress, who is due to star in West End show Blithe Spirit from March, admitted:

“I knew it was a terrible mistake, I didn’t want to sully the memory. Octavia Spencer is a superb actress; she had no business being put into a situation that she couldn’t win.”

Spencer still has a busy 2014 lined up with filming of three films on the horizon; the James Brown biography GET ON UP, Adam Collis comedy CAR DOGS and DreamWorks animation B.O.O.: BUREAU OF OTHERWORDLY OPERATIONS.
