Having made a much welcoming comeback to our screens in the likes of DRIVE and THIS IS 40, the hilarious acting and stand-up genius looks to continue his resurgence with a major role in writer/director J.C. Chandor’s latest film. Yes, Albert Brooks has joined Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain in the rising young filmmaker’s A MOST VIOLENT YEAR. The project was picked up for for domestic distribution by A24 during the Sundance Film Festival and will be financed by Participant Media and Image Nation Abu Dhabi.

Chandor first impressed us with the terrific, all-star financial nail-biter MARGIN CALL before setting sail with Robert Redford-led survival thriller, ALL IS LOST. Brooks will play the attorney to Isaac’s immigrant, who, along with his family, is looking grow his business but finds himself clashing with the New York City’s organised crime element.  The title of the film comes from the year it will be set – 1981 – which was Brooklyn’s highest tallies of violent crime.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
