Olivier Megaton Confirmed For ‘Taken 3’ & Forest Whitaker To Sign On?

Despite the terrible, underwhelming and desperately bad TAKEN 2 – in both reviews and narrative – the film took more than the original TAKEN that totaled around $400m. Basically, people flocked to it regardless of the critical feedback.

With that in mind, they’ve decided to keep on director Olivier Megatron, ah hem, Megaton for the third outing for Liam Neeson’s Bryan Mills. I really wanted to love the follow up to the cult-classic first but there was too much back story, things we already knew and more randomness situations than there should have been. Weirdly enough though, I’d still want to see what they’ve got planned next for TAKEN 3 and they’re now trying to sign up Forest Whitaker.

Our friends over at Deadline have heard the rumours that Whitaker might be in waiting and I wouldn’t be surprised if they could get him on board to join Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace and The Neeson. Back on writing duty would be Robert Mark Kamen again alongside legendary director and writer Luc Besson – who loves this kind of genre endlessly.

First up, his daughter was taken, then Bryan Mills was taken so – it only makes sense – that his wife gets taken for maybe the finale in an unexpected trilogy? It’d be great if the cat gets taken, or….oh we’ll find out eventually in TAKEN 3.
