Jason Reitman To Direct New Hemmings Novel ‘The Possibilities’

Jason Reitman

Academy Award nominee Jason Reitman is set to direct the adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings’ new novel The Possibilities.

Reitman, who’s already found success with JUNO, UP IN THE AIR and YOUNG ADULT, will head up the project for Indian Paintbrush and Right of Way Films (his own production company). It’s the latest in a growing line of book adaptations for Reitman.

Hemmings’ novel follows a mother grieving over her son’s death, who encounters a girl with a life-changing secret. Hemmings is no stranger to the big screen treatment of his stories. The adaptation of his bestselling début, The Descendants, was directed by Alexander Payne, starred George Clooney and won an Oscar for best screenplay.

It’s a busy year for Reitman. Next up is the release of LABOR DAY, starring Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet on January 31 (USA) and March 28 (UK). MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN will be following in cinemas soon after.

The Possibilities hits book shelves this summer.
