Fans of John Constantine have found out a little bit more about the forthcoming NBC adaptation of the comic book antihero – and it looks like he’s going to be both blond and a Londoner.
If these rumours prove to be true, it’ll be a pleasing return to roots; our chain-smoking sorcerer sports bright blond hair in DC/Vertigo’s Hellblazer and Constantine. 2005’s big screen rendition, CONSTANTINE, put Keanu Reeves in the titular role and he’s about as far away from blond and British as you can get (remember BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA, anyone?).
Daniel Cerone, executive producer of The Mentalist, is on board. Let’s hope the pilot wows more than Francis Lawrence’s film; Hellblazer is a comic with a lot of unfulfilled live action potential.
