Nobody Gets Taken In ‘Taken 3’, Says Liam Neeson

Pierre Morel’s 2008 film TAKEN was surely a frontrunner in that year’s films-least-likely-to-get-a-franchise awards (we’re pretty sure that’s a thing, right?), but in a classic case of sticking it to the audience, Liam Neeson returned for some reason with 2012’s TAKEN 2 (squandering the possibility of such classic titles as ‘TAKEN AGAIN’, ‘ALSO TAKEN’ and ‘TAKEN TOO’).

And now it appears one sequel wasn’t enough for Hollywood, as TAKEN 2’s director Olivier Megaton is back for more with TAKEN 3 – a film where, according to Liam Neeson, nobody will actually get ‘taken’:

‘They called me up and I said ‘I’ll do it… but only as long as nobody gets Taken.”

The actor also promised a ‘really, really good story‘, so it seems scriptwriters Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen might actually be mixing things up a bit for the threequel. In the original action thriller, Neeson (as Bryan Mills) found internet meme fame after using his ‘particular set of skills’ to hunt down his kidnapped daughter.

That didn’t stop him getting ‘taken’ himself in the 2012 sequel, but at least it sounds like we won’t have to be subjected to anybody else getting taken this time around. Because in all honesty, who was left to get taken anyway? Bryan’s grandma? His pet goldfish? Or in a classic case of Stockholm Syndrome, maybe his daughter kidnaps the villains?

Anyway, all those terrible ideas can now be thrown out of the window accordingly while we wait to see what Megaton has in store for us this time. It’ll be a long wait, however, as TAKEN 3 doesn’t start production until later this year. Maggie Grace is expected to return alongside Neeson, while Forest Whitaker is also in talks to join the franchise in an unspecified role.

Stay tuned to THN for more info as we get it, and feel free to give us some of your ideas for TAKEN 3 in the comments below.
