It seems as if you can’t go one day in the movie-world without seeing a headline relating to BATMAN VS SUPERMAN these days. After several controversial casting announcements (Ben Affleck-Batman, Gal Gadot-Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg-Lex Luthor), rumoured two-part filming plans and a delayed release date, interest surrounding the project is at an all time high.
Several people close to Affleck such as his wife Jennifer Garner (DALLAS BUYERS CLUB) and writer/director Kevin Smith (CLERKS) have previously expressed their excitement at the actors Batsuit and the film in general. Now Affleck’s closest friend and collaborator Matt Damon (GOOD WILL HUNTING) has given his opinion on his friends decision to star in the film and the costume he will wear. ‘I’ve seen a picture. I have seen a picture. It’s excellent. And I’ve talked to him about the storyline, and it’s great. Look, I’ve known him for thirty-something years, I’d be the first guy being like, ‘Buddy, what are you doing?’ But I think the movie is going to be great’.
Damon’s words of enthusiasm will hopefully help reassure fans who may be worried about the film after a recent production delay to April and a release date shift by almost a year to May 2016. With any luck we will be treated to a picture of Affleck in his Batman costume sooner rather than later to wet our appetites before the long two year wait for the film. BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Lawrence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons.
