Did you know that creative jobs have risen 25% since 2009, and that most of those jobs are based in Soho, London? Yeah we’re not surprised, considering that all you have to do is take a light stroll through the West End to find numerous editing studios, studio headquarters or screening rooms. It is the absolute place to be if you want to be in the creative sector, and Tom Harvey – the creator of brand new festival ‘SohoCreate’ – has launched the festival in celebration of this creative and talented part of Soho.
From 4th-6th June, SohoCreate will be showcasing the biggest and brightest stars of the creative industry. While the line up has not been officially announced just yet, you just know that the area that helped put together films such as GRAVITY, ROBOCOP, PROMETHUS, HARRY POTTER, INCEPTION and IRON MAN 3 (just to name a handful) will not disappoint us where this festival is concerned!
Creator Tom Harvey, who has also been awarded an MBE for his services to the creative industries said:
“The next generation of creatives are not going to be inspired by GVA and turnover, they are going to be inspired by meeting, and talking with our great directors, writers, musicians, performers, designers and producers. SohoCreate is a festival about creativity and inspiration.”
He created the festival in collaboration with Westminster Council. Cllr Daniel Astaire, Westminster City Council’s cabinet member for business and enterprise said:
“We are delighted to be investing in SohoCreate. Such an event, right in the heart of London, will help to champion the UK’s extraordinary creativity.”
We are INCREDIBLY excited for this! Sound interesting to you? Visit the SohoCreate website or follow the festival on Twitter @SohoCreate
