‘The Fantastic Four’ Are Announced!

Fantastic Four Cast

The cast for 20th Century Fox’s FANTASTIC FOUR reboot now titled THE FANTASTIC FOUR, have been announced with just a few negotiations to sort out to finalise the deal.Miles Teller will take on the role of Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic, Kate Mara will be Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, the long cast Michael B. Jordan will take on the role of Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Jamie Bell is expected to take on the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The reboot will focus on the Ultimate Fantatic Four comics, which presents the characters during their time as younger men/woman. However, the cast is still bound to cause some controversy with Teller and Jordan being the same age and Jamie Bell not being known for his size. But with director of CHRONICLE, Josh Trank, at the helm, people should be very excited in how this story will develop.

I am probably one of the few people who enjoyed the first two FANTASTIC FOUR movies, finding them fun with a quick pace, but I’m always interested in new iterations of familiar characters.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR is set for release on the 18th June 2015 in the UK and 19th June 2015 in the US. It stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan.

So they going to tie the whole “Sue Storm’s brother Johnny is black” with a bit of background about how he’s the adopted brother?

Why can’t she be the adopted daughter?

I honestly like Miles Teller as Reed. Not exactly sure why. I also like MBJ as Johnny but it’s weird that Susan will be his adopted sister. Don’t know enough about the girl to judge yet. And that choice for Ben is very questionable but I won’t judge until I see more. Will they go CGI? If so, does he have the voice for The Thing?

a black johnny storm? i am getting sick of this crap…the “oh we are so political correct and dont want to hurt the feelings of black people” business is getting way out of hand! why cant they just stay true to the characters??

This is not a Michael Jackson movie, don’t go screwing up your character’s origins! A cast of barely-known actors aren’t adding any desire to see this become reality.

    Practically has to be cgi

Of course she can but considering the Storm family has always been white, it’s not the racist assumption you’re silently implying it is. Just a logical one.

Yeah, true, they wouldn’t do another full body suit like the last Thing. Apparently it took too long to put on and was super hot inside.

Plus look at the competition. You either really gotta be huge I.e. Batista, or cgi… So judging by this guy’s musculature, I’m predicting they’ll go the Hulk route.

None of these people resemble their characters – terrible.
By the way black Johnny Storm is racist. (pass it on) Why does the black guy have the wisecracking jackass? Why not make him Reed – the leader and genius inventor – instead? I hate changing anything about original comic char concepts but even I know that would be a home run a la new-look Nick Fury.

Does Fox know that the Fantastic Four are not the Teen Titans???

This cast would be great for the Teen Titans movie… As the Fantastic Four, it’s a big fail…

For me it’s not the “barely Known” factor that jumps to mind.. It’s the whole “They are not old enough to even be considered as potential great scientists/Space Crew that would be green lit by NASA or any other space agency to go up in a rocket.

The whole Michael B. Jordan thing is also a potentially messed up issue. While many prey on those who say it’s just not right to reboot the character’s origin by saying they are racist, like one of my friends did, I throw back the “Ok then.. Let’s make a Black Panther movie.. But he’s not a black king of Wakanda, he’s actually a white kid who became King thus a White guy.

So now they say “It’s not the same thing!” .. yes.. yes it is…

Ultimate Spider-man made a little fuss when they killed off Peter and replaced him with Miles Morales but it simply died down because they did it the right way. By not just changing the character’s background for no reason.

I love what Micheal B. Jordan did in his various roles, he’s great, but why not just offer him something like Black Panther, I think he would kill it! J. Storm… not so much..

And like I said, the rest of the cast.. way too different from the actual Comics. Fox messes with the characters way too much and they may fail. The only Franchise that was declared highly successful as been the X-Men, yes they messed up a shit load of the characters origins, but the mutants have been played around so much in the comics that it seems that they are just bound to be taken on differently.

A white guy playing Black Panther actually wouldn’t be the same thing. Unlike Johnny Storm, who’s ultimately just a guy, Black Panther’s whole existence is centered around him being an African king.

Also, Michael B. Jordan is excellent, but as Black Panther? Noooo way lol.

“He literally HAS to be black”… so what you’re saying is that the Black Cat is also a black woman???

    Black Widow?

… Your comment makes no sense based on that alone..

I don’t care about comics, so I certainly don’t care when a character’s race is changed for a movie. If cultural heritage or nationality is not a vital factor in the character’s origin, then do whatever works for the movie. But if they wanted to do that with this film, wouldn’t it make heaps more sense if the siblings were the same race, even if that means they’re both black? Eliminating or diluting blood ties seems excessive. Alternatively, either of the other two characters could be black, especially since Jamie Bell looks like the perfect Johnny Storm to me.

  35. DoigtDuPeuple

    Feb 22, 2014 at 4:59 am

So there are absolutely NO white people in Africa, none who could become kings because he was adopted by a black king?.. Why would he NEED to be black to be the king.. Maybe it’s why he wears a mask to completely covers his face, so no one knows he’s actually a white guy!!? … How about a white Power Man then… Yeah let’s do that!! ..

Can yah count the amount of black or other minority superheros and heroins in comics with your two hands and make it to ten easily? Probably not. How about the white ones? Of course yah can dude. Only reason you feel that you think you say what your saying is because you think that things have somehow drastically changed in terms of discrimination. They haven’t.

there good actors, there all just horrible miscast (except maybe Kate Mara as Sue), it’s like they went out of their way to go against character type… I get wanting to establish a difference from the other films… but, at this point it’s barely even the F4, anymore

  41. Josh

    Feb 23, 2014 at 8:35 pm

but, the ultimate comics sucked IMHO of course

  42. just saying

    Feb 23, 2014 at 8:44 pm

a black, Thing, would have been a decent too…
Ben’s background is alittle more open to him being a different race, with out it effecting his relation to others (such as Sue’s and Jon’s)

but then people would probably say, “why does the black guy get turned into a giant rock monster”

  43. Mighty Mouth

    Feb 24, 2014 at 3:05 pm

Thats BS! Ultimate did not have a Black Johnny Storm or a female Von doom. They are doing their own thing. As a long time FF fan, i will be skipping this, the changes feel contrived more than genuine in any way.

  44. Mighty Mouth

    Feb 24, 2014 at 3:13 pm

Just a guy?? Marvels first family, hello. Johnny is Sue’s biological brother, Not adopted, this change serves no purpose than to simply add a token Black guy to the cast. So what about Blade then? Or Luke Cage? Better yet should Falcon in Cap 2 be Asian or Indian, I mean he’s just a guy, right.

If Falcon was portrayed as another race, I think we would hear an outrage, and rightfully so.

I have no issue with diversity and I encourage it, but when its ill placed, its ill placed. These characters are cemented in our culture and should not be messed with.

I just don’t think you get it.

  45. Mighty Mouth

    Feb 24, 2014 at 3:15 pm

They have drastically changed, if you cant see that you are blind. We have a black president! It would be foolish to argue that without drastic changes in our nation with regards to discrimination, that could ever happen.

If you really want to end racism stop fanning the flames.

  48. Mighty Mouth

    Feb 25, 2014 at 4:38 am

Sure it is. Sue an Johnny are about a white America as you can get. There are plenty of black heroes, just make movies about them then. Some of us love our characters just the way they are.

  49. wat

    Feb 25, 2014 at 5:41 am

No, you don’t get it. They’re not known FOR being white, they’re known for being themselves. They’re open to having their races changed because it changes nothing BUT their race. Black Panther on the other hand was MADE to be black, since he’s an African king and whatnot. Don’t get me wrong, I think races should remain how they were created (with the exception of black Nick Fury because he’s sooooo much cooler), I was just responding to DoigtDuPeuple’s terrible point regarding Black Panther haha.

There just aren’t that many minority characters are there? Johnny Storm’s been white once. Batman’s been white beau coup times! You know THAT will never happen… But back to the Fantastic… They are FOUR. 3rd time on screen that’s (carry the 2) one out of TWELVE. One out of twelve, and people wanna start RAHOWA (neo nazi for RAcial HOly WAr), because they love the characters. I get it, but I reeeeally don’t. Is that gonna bring the value down on their comics’ neighborhoods? Is Johnny Storm eyeballing their women now? Cuz if you trusted him around your women when he was white, then you don’t know Johnny Storm after all.

Why do people insist upon screwing with our super hero icons ? Johnny’s black, as is Perry “White”. Green Lantern is gay, Superman has renounced his American citizenship (Yes – no more fighting for the “American way”), Spiderman is killed off and replaced by a half black, half latino, and Wonder Woman may be a lesbian. This PC nonsense makes me physically ill !

  53. Kelly

    Apr 5, 2014 at 11:42 pm

This has to be the worst example of film casting that I have ever seen. Not only are we going to have to explain how Johnny and Sue Storm are siblings, but the guy playing Ben Grimm is supposed to be a tough guy from Yancy Street? Give me a frigging break. Worst decision since James Marsden was cast as a wussy version of Cyclops, who was then killed off.
