Australian helmer Patrick Hughes, who will see his next film THE EXPENDABLES 3 hit cinemas this coming August, has been confirmed as the director of the US remake of the hit Indonesian film THE RAID. Hughes, who made waves with his superb film RED HILL a few years back, will tackle the ambitious project next. It will be adapted for the English language by Brad Ingelsby (OUT OF THE FURNACE).
Gareth Edwards’ original gets itself a sequel in the first quarter of 2014. THE RAID 2: BERENDAL is getting rave reviews and is being referred to as ‘the best action film ever made,’ which will guarantee my place in line come opening day at the tail end of next month.
THE RAID revolves around a group of elite cops who infultrate a high-rise full of bad guys. It was released in 2011 to huge acclaim, so the fact that it needs a remake is absolutely insane, as the original is pretty much perfect.
Hollywood eh?
