Better Strange than Malekith, career wise and fan wise. Who played Malekith again? I know who did, but muggles don’t.

Thor 1 and Cap 1 were both far worse than TDW: these two movies, especially Cap, were undignified cheesefests. Sure, Malekith was more monolithic and one-dimensional than Loki, but the villain clearly wasn’t the point of TDW.
That said, Mikkelsen seems to be a bit cold to play a superhero but he’s a good actor and maybe he has it in him, we’ll see. At any rate, it could be a wise career move for him, thus avoiding to be pigeonholed in the role of the emotionless bastard he’s repeatedly cast for since Casino Royale.

Yeah, even knowing beforehand it was Chris Eccleston (aka the 9th Doctor) under that makeup, I barely recognized him.

Whoever gets it will become a household name… Unless he already is, like Depp

Maybe, but Strange is a second tier hero at best. But who knows, if they can pull an Iron Man with this one, the guy will definitely become a household name. RDJ’s career was more or less in the dump before he was cast as Stark. The problem with Eccleston was the script and/or director’s fault, not his: he’s usually a talented actor but his part in TDW was bland. Then again, like I said above, the villain was not the point of that movie.
