The BBC’s smash hit LUTHER ran from 2010 to 2013 and starred the excellent Idris Elba (THOR, PACIFIC RIM). The crime-drama series was a fantastic portrayal of a damaged police detective with a kind heart but often violent temper. Although obsessed with his work, the series showed John Luther slowly learn to live with himself and the mistakes of his past through helping others by solving horrific crimes.
Now it has been revealed that BBC Worldwide have made a deal with the production firm Sreda for the first ever time, in order to produce a Russian remake of LUTHER. The remake will air on the Russian television network Channel One in 2015 and if it shares any connections with its predecessor it will be an incredibly entertaining watch. Similarly a Russian remake of the popular BBC series LIFE ON MARS was also produced in 2012. A film adaptation of LUTHER starring Idris Elba is also in the works with filming hoping to begin at some point this year.
