Fans of the 1999 sci-fi series FARSCAPE will be happy to learn that a spin-off film is in the works. It’s to be penned by Australian scribe Justin Monjo who worked on the original show. He’s just worked on the script for a new HBO series that will star GAME OF THRONES’ Peter Dinklage and is produced by Ben Stiller’s RedHour Films.
The spin-off will follow on directly from the series finale that saw lead characters John Crichton (Ben Browder) and Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black) tie the knot and have a baby. The story will center around their child, who is revealed to have special abilities that cause him to become a target of villainous aliens, damn those villainous aliens!. Because of this, his parents hid him out of harms way on Earth (perhaps not such a wise choice given the current state of things) and at nineteen years-old the child is rediscovered by his parents and is brought into their dangerous star-trekking life style.
It’s certainly got the fan base to quench some box-office thirst but will the film improve on the shows shortcomings or fall prey to them and suffer to work on the big screen?
