It wasn’t too long ago that we were treated to that fantastic first trailer to Gareth Edwards’ American reboot of the Japanese monster GODZILLA. However, with May coming thick and fast another trailer is customary at this point and boy did we get one. I can’t say enough great things about the Godzilla franchise, but this trailer is truly exceptional. It captures both the drama and the mayhem, teased yesterday by Bryan Cranston’s strong words.
Delivering the amazing MONSTERS, has instilled all the confidence a fan needs in director Edwards. It certainly seems as though the human element will play a huge role, which for me always makes the chaos and destruction. The original GODZILLA’s most heart wrenching moments saw a mother and her children die, as well as another child later watching her mother die. It may have become camp and fun later, but Edwards seems to want it to be dark and gritty.
If the trailer grabs you as it did me and you’re yet to explore the world of Godzilla, then consider checking out the THN Countdown!
GODZILLA will be released 16th May 2014. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, Sally Hawkins, Akira Takarada, and David Strathairn.
