It seems barely a day goes by without some new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY related news and today is no exception. Whilst speaking to Zap 2 It Jason Momoa, star of Game Of Thrones and CONAN revealed that he got quite far down the casting line, – even having an audition with Chris Pratt. Ultimately though he believed that it was time for him to try something different and the part went to WWE star Bautista.

It didn’t really fit in my time because I’ve done so many things where I don’t say much and I’m colored up and I have my shirt off again. I made a conscious choice to turn down some movies that were action-based to direct ROAD TO PALOMA so people could see that side. “I want my children to see their father happy. It’s not that it’s not a good role, it just wasn’t the right thing. I was on Stargate Atlantis for four years playing a similar character called Ronon, who was an alien who didn’t say much and grunted. I’ve been there and done that, whether people have seen it or not. You want to stretch.”

His reluctance to play ‘shirtless’ Drax does not mean that he wouldn’t consider another comic book character as he describes himself as a huge fan.

So are you happy with Bautista as Drax or now that you know one of the other options would you have preferred the CONAN star?
