Goldblum: Yes To ‘Independence Day 2’ No To ‘Jurassic World’

Jeff Goldblum

Jeff Goldblum was huge in the 1990s. He’s still big today, but he was blockbuster material in 1993 and 1996, when he took a lead role in JURASSIC PARK and INDEPENDENCE DAY. With both films eyeing sequels for the future, Goldblum has discussed with The Huffington Post about whether or not he’ll be appearing. In regards to JURASSIC WORLD, the fourth film in the JURASSIC PARK franchise, Goldblum says he hasn’t been asked about the film:

They haven’t called me for “4,” I know Steven Spielberg isn’t directing it.

Goldblum also revealed that he wasn’t asked back for the third either, although doesn’t elaborate on whether he would have taken part if he had been asked. When it came to talk about INDEPENDENCE DAY 2 however, the response was a lot more positive:

Yeah, they’ve talked to me about it and I’ve talked to them about it and they’re excited and I’m anxious and eager to see — I haven’t read anything — what they cook up. You know, I think they’re trying to put it together.

So it seems as though we’ll be seing Mr. Goldblum returning to kick some alien butt, while allowing the newbies to take on the dinosaurs. I’m not too excited by either franchise continuing in all honesty, but I’m sure a decent trailer could sway my thinking. Goldblum is currently starring in Wes Anderson’s THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL which hits US and UK theatres on 7th March.
