BBC One have announced that Aidan Turner is set to star in their new drama series Poldark, an adaptation of the famous Winston Graham saga.
Turner, known for his role in THE HOBBIT and another successful BBC drama Being Human, will play Ross Poldark. In the novels we see Poldark, an 18th century British army officer, who returns home to find his fiancee, who thought he was dead, marrying his cousin. Debbie Horsfield will be writing the project while Ed Bazalgette is set to direct.
Of course this is not the first adaptation of The Poldark Novels we have seen from the BBC. The original series, which starred Robin Ellis and Jill Townsend, was a huge success airing in over 40 countries. Not too much pressure there for you Aidan eh?…
There’s not much news on other casting or airing dates just yet, all we know is that we are very excited to see Aidan Turner returning to our small screens! What do you guys think of the news?
