Disney’s live-action adaptation of THE JUNGLE BOOK just got a little more street-cred with the news that Idris Elba is in negotiations to voice the villainous tiger Shere Khan. Jon Favreau of Friends and IRON MAN is thought to be directing the film which is in competition with rival company Warner Bros. who are also trying to bring Rudyard Kipling’s classic story to life.
Thanks to the Disney animation everyone knows the story of Mowgli – the boy raised by animals of the jungle. We all remember watching it and being transfixed as a child and now with this life-action version a whole new generation can fall in love with the tale.
Idris Elba is one cooler than cool actor and he has an instantly recognisable voice so fingers-crossed he’ll sign up as we can’t think of anybody better to voice the king of the jungle. THE JUNGLE BOOK is just one is a line of live-action remakes that Disney are doing at the moment with MALEFICENT and CINDERELLA already well underway. Here’s hoping THE LION KING is next.
