Why can’t the astonishing Mondo posters be the actual posters for motion pictures these days? The over produced, heavily Photoshopped nonsense has been shopped around for far too long. This latest poster, advertising the Gareth Edward’s Americanisation of Toho’s GODZILLA, is to be given out to the lucky few attending the screening of the original 1954 film, directed by Ishiro Honda, at the SXSW Film Festival. That’s just too much awesomeness to handle, so I’m glad I’m not one those lucky guys. No jealousy here. The poster sees smoke and flames created by Godzilla, creating a visualisation of Godzilla himself.
GODZILLA will be released 16th May 2014. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, Sally Hawkins, Akira Takarada, and David Strathairn.
