DreamWorks Animation has a mixed bag of success with animation and critical acclaim, lending their talents towards similar-feeling projects with weird-shaped characters in the likes of THE CROODS and SHREK. They do have the impressive HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON though and now we’ve got a whole new race of aliens called the ‘Boov‘ (‘Boov Your Body‘ tagline awaiting?) in the all-new upcoming movie HOME.
The film features the voice talents of Steve Martin, Rihanna, Jim Parsons and Jennifer Lopez, with 3D release set for December of this year. They’ve surely taken inspiration from those mischievous DESPICABLE ME Minions in tone and slapstick play. This is definitely one for the younger generation and not all animation is out there to impress both adults and kids, I just wish it was more often. Here’s the synopsis and head down for the very first short film that shows us who they are!
When Earth is taken over by the overly-confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated, while all Boov get busy reorganizing the planet. But when one resourceful girl, Tip, (Rihanna) manages to avoid capture, she finds herself the accidental accomplice of a banished Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons). The two fugitives realize there’s a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.
