Writer, director and actor John Cameron Mitchell has revealed that he is working on a sequel to Hedwig And The Angry Inch…to INCEPTION actress Marion Cotillard no less. Speaking in an interview, Mitchell revealed that he was currently working with composer Stephen Trask:
“I’m in New York, just getting ready for my Hedwig sequel. I’m standing over Stephen Trask and making him write. And he’s coming up with some beautiful songs.”
Mitchell also revealed that the themes of the sequel will look into middle age and the ‘second part of your life’:
“Your parents start declining; you have to think about where life goes. And that’s what the second part of Hedwig is about – the second part of your life.”
The Hedwig sequel marks a return to musicals for Mitchell. Since the success of the film adaptation, he went on to direct such films as SHORTBUS and RABBIT HOLE.
Mitchell and Stephen Trask are in New York gearing up for the Broadway debut of Hedwig and The Angry Inch which sees How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris as Hedwig. It is currently in rehearsals and is set to go into previews March 22nd.
