Will ‘300: Rise Of An Empire’ Get A Sequel?

Sullivan Stapleton

It’s a wonder that it took seven years to get a sequel to Zack Snyder’s 300 into theatres after the original was so financially successful at the worldwide box office. Just short of one week in theatres and Noam Murro’s sequel 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE has already made its entire $100 Million budget back, which isn’t entirely surprising given the popularity of the original Gerard Butler vehicle. However without Butler and such a long gap between the sequel and its predecessor Warner Bros must have been (understandably) a little worried.

With any previous fears of the films success now proven unwarranted, sequel talks will no doubt be occurring as we speak within Warner Bros’ headquarters. In a brand new interview with STRIKE BACK star Sullivan Stapleton (who plays the lead in 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE) the Australian star has expressed his keen interest in a sequel. You can check out what he had to say below:

‘As for the sequel, it’s a huge story, and those battles between the Greeks and Persians went on for years and years. I hope to God we do another sequel. If we don’t, hopefully they put me in another film. And did I say that I’m on the cover of Men’s Health?’

I have yet to see the film but have heard that’s it’s a very enjoyable action romp with little-to-no real plot but plenty to gaze upon in terms of over the top spectacle. If 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE continues to be so financially successful, Warner Bros will undoubtedly fast track a sequel, expect to hear news soon!.

It’s no wonder at all: they made this sequel because Frank Miller wrote a sequel to his original graphic novel. The guy’s usually very protective of his work, so I doubt a third movie sequel surfaces until he decides to write a third comic.
