Taking artistic licence with an infamous story from the Bible, and turning it into a blockbuster, was always going to offend someone. It’s not all that surprising then to see that those behind Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH have released a disclaimer addressing any concerns.

It states that ‘while artistic licence has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values and integrity‘ of the story. It also states that the film is ‘inspired by the story of Noah‘.

The National Religious Broadcasters group suggested the inclusion of the disclaimer to appease those religious groups who had spoken out against the film. And just in case you weren’t sure where to find the original, they are also good enough to let viewers know that ‘The Biblical Story of Noah can be found in the book of Genesis‘.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Ray Winstone, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman and Sir Anthony Hopkins, NOAH is set for release on 4th April in the UK (March 28th in the US).
