Full Length Feature Film ‘A Possibility’ For ‘Game Of Thrones’

Game of Thrones

Sex and the City, Entourage and now possibly Game of Thrones? Could the HBO hit series also end with a major blockbuster? According to Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, it could. Revealing his thoughts on the possibilities of a feature film, he had this to say:

“It all depends on how long the main series runs. Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know.”

Saying that, this isn’t the only one Martin has in mind with big screen ventures. At the season four premiere of Game of Thrones in New York earlier this week, the best-selling author said another possibility would be basing the movie on Tales of Dunk and Egg, a series of three prequel novels that Martin has written taking place 90 years before A Song of Ice and Fire with many of the characters being direct ancestors of some of the current Games of Thrones’ roles. Martin state:

“They could be the basis for [a film]. I have written these three stories, and I have about a dozen more.”

Prequel, sequel or a blockbuster ending, either way a Game of Thrones film is very likely to be a huge success, as fans of the show will surely great this news with even more excitement than they do the long-awaited season four. Let us know your thoughts!
