Doug Liman In Talks To Helm ‘Splinter Cell’

Doug Liman

EDGE OF TOMORROW director Doug Liman is currently in talks to take on game adaptation SPLINTER CELL.

The project was previously in the hands of DreamWorks and Paramount, with Peter Berg (LONE SURVIVOR) attached as director. However, Liman is now in the last stages to take on the film, with Tom Hardy already set to star as Sam Fisher, a spy working for anti-terror organisation Third Echelon. Eric Singer, the man behind AMERICAN HUSTLE’s script, has already written the screenplay.

SPLINTER CELL is one of the biggest-selling game franchises, selling over 23 million units worldwide. As the project has been in and out of talks for a while, Ubisoft and New Regency are looking to start production in August, with a predicted release date set for 2015. Better get started soon then!

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
