Richard Linklater’s Generational ‘Boyhood’ Confirms Summer Release Date

We’ve received the news from IFC Films that Richard Linklater’s BOYHOOD will open in the UK and USA on July 11th.

This new project from the man behind the ‘Before…‘ trilogy is particularly special because it’s been filmed over 12 years from 2002 to 2013, and follows those dozen years within the life of a family. It’s already had great critical feedback from Sundance, the Berlin International Film Festival and SXSW and really sounds astonishing.

BOYHOOD is based around Mason, played by Ellar Coltrane, who with his sister Samantha, is taken on an emotional and transcendent journey through the years, from childhood to adulthood and with that, we’ll literally see Ellar grow up on-screen from 5- 18 years old.

With a screenplay by Linklater, the film also stars Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette and Lorelei Linklater. So possibly one to keep a lookout for? We think so! BOYHOOD was produced by Linklater, Cathleen Sutherland, Jonathan Sehring and John Sloss, and was fully financed by IFC Films.
