I think it’s safe to say that Marvel Studios’ THE AVENGERS blew pretty much the entire world away when it was released in 2012 and its box office receipts certainly reflected that when it became the third highest grossing film of all time. Now after (what has seemed like) a lifetime of waiting, cameras have finally started rolling on its sequel AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, which is of course helmed by Joss Whedon once again.
While Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. have indicated that they wont be joining their super-powered team mates until late April, Jeremy Renner has been spotted alongside newcomers Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen. The long shoot is currently taking place in Italy for an action sequence involving Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and the teams robotic nemesis ‘Ultron’.
The set photos captured thus far don’t exactly reveal an awful lot plot-wise, due to the extensive CGI work that will take place during post production. However they do reveal Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, a pre-CGI Ultron and Hawkeye’s snazzy new costume. Comic fans will be pleased with the incredibly accurate adaptions of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, as well as the new costume donned by Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
Everything is looking great for the film so far and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver is definitely a huge improvement on the version of the character we’ll be seeing from Evan Peters in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST this May. AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, James Spader and Paul Bettany.
