After spending nine years in an information vacuum, Robert Rodriguez is finally rewarding our patience as the anticipation of SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR mounts.
A lot can happen in almost a decade, the main problem for Rodriguez is that several members of his original cast have had to be replaced for various reasons. Dennis Haysbert of 24 and The Unit fame is taking over the role of Manute, a part played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan, other replacements include Josh Brolin who is taking over Clive Owens Dwight and Jamie Chung will now wield Miho’s sword replacing Devon Aoki.
The film will follow the same pattern as the first, and is being shot in the same beautiful way, with the writer of the graphic novel on which the films are based – Frank Miller, stepping into a co-directing seat. This time around we’re also going 3D.
So far over the last couple of months we have been treated to a trailer and two batches of stills. Today has seen a third batch sneak online and we’ve got them all right here to share with you.
As you can see this latest lot gives us a better look at the new Miho and Manute whom we only glimpsed in the trailer. We also get a cheeky sneak at Bruce Willis who returns as Hartigan, the detective who charged himself with the task of protecting Nancy Callahan, who is once again played by Jessica Alba.
Thankfully the director has already confirmed plans to create a third film should this film have the same success of it’s predecessor. So hopefully we won’t be waiting another nine years for the next chapter.
SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, co-directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, stars Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Dennis Haysbert, Jessica Alba, Ray Liotta, Jamie Chung and Bruce Willis and is released on 22nd August in the US. British fans will have to wait a whole extra week with the film released on 29th August.
