First Trailer Arrives For ‘The Drop’ Starring Tom Hardy & James Gandolfini

After stills released a few days ago we now have the first trailer for THE DROP starring Tom Hardy & James Gandolfini available for your viewing pleasure. The crime drama is based on Hardy’s character who runs a bar where the local criminals hide their money.  The bar is robbed and Hardy, along with his Uncle played by Gandolfini, are caught up in an investigation and possible revenge from the criminals whose money has been taken.

From the looks of the trailer we can expect a dark, gritty and intense drama with some powerful performances; we dread to think what cruel fate awaits Hardy’s pet dog and the fact the movie was originally called ANIMAL RESCUE doesn’t install much hope into proceedings.

With a screenplay from Dennis Lehane, the man behind high-calibre movies GONE BABY GONE, SHUTTER ISLAND and MYSTIC RIVER, the story should be thrilling with plenty of twists and turns. This is director Michaël R. Roskam’s second feature but he has an array of awards under his belt for his debut BULLHEAD along with his previous work in shorts.

THE DROP also stars Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts, James Frecheville and Jeremy Bobb, it opens in the UK on 14th November and in North America on 19th September.
