From the first moment that I heard about the upcoming Vince Vaughn starrer TERM LIFE, it had my full and devoted interest. Despite the fact that the film is based on an obscure graphic novel (of the same name) that I had no prior knowledge of, the plot sounds extremely original and exciting.
TERM LIFE will star Vaughn as a criminal with a price on his head, who decides to take out an insurance policy that will ensure his daughter’s financial future, but in order for the policy to take effect he must stay alive for an entire 21 days. The film sounds like an exhilarating thrill ride that would provide a quirky action-comedy in the same style as SHOOT ‘EM UP (hopefully). After Universal dropped the project for unknown reasons, it was quickly picked up by QED International and Worldview Entertainment who will finance the project. Vaughn will produce TERM LIFE under his Wild West Picture Productions company while Universal will distribute in the US (no word on UK distributors yet).
Now Terrence Howard (IRON MAN) has joined the films great little cast that already consists of Vaughn, Hailee Steinfeld, Bill Paxton, Jonathan Banks and Jon Favreau. Howard was most recently seen the excellent Schwarzenegger starring-vehicle SABOTAGE which has just had its US release, although the UK wont officially see the film until May. The IRON MAN star will play a small town sheriff named Braydon who gets caught up in Vaughn’s fight for survival when he bumps into the wanted fugitive and his daughter. So far this film is shaping up brilliantly and I eagerly await some sort of official marketing material before the films release at some point next year. TERM LIFE is currently filming in Georgia and you can check back with THN for updates on the film.
