TV Spot Mania: ‘Hercules’, ‘TMNT’, ‘Transformers 4’, ‘A Million Ways To Die In The West’, & ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’

The weekend saw the MTV Movie Awards take place, and it’s the perfect time for the big studios to really push their summer tentpoles forward. We’ve no less than 5 brand new TV spots, including the first ones for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES and HERCULES. The trailer for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES gives us our first (from behind) look at Splinter and shows off some new footage not seen in the trailer. The film reboots the franchise that has seen varying degrees of popularity over the years.

The second HERCULES film of the year also gets a TV spot, and it’s looking far superior to the Kellan Lutz bomb. The next installment in the Transformers franchise, TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION also made an appearance, suggesting that this could be a very Michael Bay summer since he’s also producer TMNT. Tom Cruise goes all GROUNDHOG DAY in a science-fiction action style for EDGE OF TOMORROW, in which Tom Cruise repeatedly dies and comes back to life in order to achieve his mission. Finally, stepping away from big action blockbuster behemoths, we have Seth McFarlane’s live action comedy follow-up to TED, A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST.

It’s a great set of TV spots, reminding us that summer is nearly here. Although, it does seem a bit less exciting considering that with CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER already out and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 hitting opening on Wednesday, it looks as though Spring is the new time for big movies. Which is kind of like celebrating Christmas in October.
