Tom Hanks To Star In Spielberg’s Cold War Thriller

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg – it’s a match made in celluloid heaven, and it looks like this duo may be working together again in Spielberg’s as yet untitled Cold War biopic thriller.

If all goes well Hanks will play attorney James Donovan. It seems Donovan was one of the movers and shakers of the twentieth century – he prosecuted major Nazi figures at Nuremberg, defended an important Russian spy and negotiated with Fidel Castro for the release of captured soldiers after the Bay of Pigs.

Spielberg’s project will follow Donovan’s negotiations to secure the release of downed U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers.

Of course the promise of Spielberg and Hanks will have the movie industry salivating. Their work together on SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, THE TERMINAL, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN and Band of Brothers was Hollywood gold.

Matt Charman is writing the script and Marc Platt will produce. More when we hear it.
