Update: We’re hearing word that Zack Snyder will direct BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE back-to-back, with JUSTICE LEAGUE set for a 2017 release. We’re hearing that an official announcement will be made at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
After countless rumours regarding Warner Bros’ plans for an expanded cinematic superhero universe, it seems that we are finally beginning to get some answers regarding BATMAN VS SUPERMAN and further team-up adventures. With the addition of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and the recent casting of Cyborg (and potentially Aquaman), it was becoming increasingly apparent that BATMAN VS SUPERMAN will lead into a planned JUSTICE LEAGUE film.
Now a new report has stated that Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman has officially confirmed the development of a JUSTICE LEAGUE film that will follow BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, and once again be directed by Zack Snyder. You can read what Silverman said:
‘It will be a further expansion of this universe, SUPERMAN VS BATMAN will lead into JUSTICE LEAGUE’.
Although Silverman’s words were brief, it is definitely refreshing to have some confirmation on this matter. The report mentions that Silverman confirmed Zack Snyder as the films director but wouldn’t divulge any information on the teams roster. However given the casting announcements for the MAN OF STEEL follow-up so far, it shouldn’t be too hard to guess who will be joining Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck. Warner Bros. President of worldwide marketing Sue Kroll has also teased the potential of a WONDER WOMAN solo film starring Gal Gadot which you can read below:
‘That is our hope. With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her’.
It’s about time Warner Bros unleashed their multiple super-powered DC characters onto the big screen in a cohesive cinematic universe, and it looks like we are on our way to getting that wish granted. Maybe if Warner Bros are extremely clever they will unite the television universe of ARROW/THE FLASH with the big screen one, in order to create a superhero series to rival that of Marvel’s AVENGERS-universe. Let’s just hope that BATMAN VS SUPERMAN doesn’t become too overcrowded as a result, and instead it feels like a natural expansion of the world Zack Snyder and co. created in MAN OF STEEL.
