Dreamworks Animation has joined forces with YouTube to create a family friendly channel called DreamworksTV. During a presentation in NYC, YouTube head of content and business, Robert Kynd spoke about the company’s campaign to promote itself as a safe place for advertisers.
Many advertises fear their messages will be lost in YouTubes vast network. The Google owned company has found a way to tackle any problems with a new sales initiative called Google Preferred. The program will promote the 5% most popular channels that specialise in food, music and entertainment. Google president of sales, Margo Georgiadis says that there will a 100% guarantee that advertisers can reach their target audience. As YouTube is most popular in the 18-34 age bracket, this program will prove most potent.
During the presentation popular channels such as Warner Music, Funny Or Die, and Vice News were heavily promoted. Shane Smith of Vice Media said:
” Today we’re at a historic moment in media, young people are leaving TV in droves and they’re moving online…We’re not going to be the next CNN [With YouTube’s scale] we’re going to be 10 times CNN.”
YouTube has become one of the most visited sites on the web and you can find a video for anything, including news and tv shows with even YouTube personalities becoming celebrities!
