We’ve just heard that X-MEN actor Sir Patrick Stewart has been confirmed to star in Seth MacFarlane’s new comedy show, Blunt Talk.
It’ll be Sir Patrick’s first regular TV role since Star Trek: The Next Generation, which finished in 1994. Picked up by US cable network Starz, Blunt Talk will focus around 73 year old Walter Blunt (Stewart) who is a British newsman that travels to America to conquer its news. His goal is to transmit his opinions and advice on how Americans should behave and act with funny outcomes. Whilst sharing his unwanted views on the news channel, he’ll be forced to deal with an unusual bunch of staff and an alcoholic assistant, who he has brought with him from the UK.
The show is written by Jonathan Ames, creator of HBO series Bored To Death with executive production by MacFarlane. US cable network Starz’s Chief Executive Officer Chris Albrecht praised Ames and MacFarlane and said:
“Seth and Jonathan have struck the right balance between biting wit and outright absurdity in building this world, and we cannot wait for Patrick to breathe life into Walter.”
Patrick Stewart has voiced many of MacFarlane’s characters in Family Guy, American Dad! and also did the voice over narration for the film TED, starring Mark Wahlberg. We shall be seeing even more of the actor in the future, as Blunt Talk has been commissioned for two seasons consisting of 20 episodes each, beginning next year. Bring it on!
